NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte will visit Bulgaria on December 19, 2024, as announced by the Ministry of Defense
Bulgarian and US soldiers conducted Thursday a joint drill of fighting the enemy in an urban setting at the Novo Selo training ground.
The drill was led by LTC Omar Jones and included rangers from the Bulgarian 61st Karlovo mechanized brigade and the 2nd and 3rd US Striker Cavalry Regiment.
The military exercise is part of a three-week long practice to include reconnaissance and target shooting.
The Thursday drill involved combat tactics used in Afghanistan. The US soldiers had the task to surround the town while the Bulgarians had to diffuse the enemy. The units conducted an analysis of their actions upon the drill's conclusion.
250 US soldiers are currently stationed in Novo Selo.
Defense Minister, Nikolay Mladenov, was present to observe the training.
