Incumbent Hamid Karzai has won Afghanistan's Presidential Elections with 54,6% after 100% of the votes have been counted.
However, Karzai's win on the first round of the elections still cannot be officially declared since the investigation of election fraud is still going on, BGNES reported citing an announcement of the Independent Electoral Commission.
Kazrai's opponent, former Foreign Minister, Abdullah Abdullah, has won 27,7% of the votes. The final results will not be released earlier than 2-3 weeks since about 100 000 suspicious ballots need to be inspected. Karzai has won about 3 million votes vs. 1,5 million for Abdullah.
Earlier EU observers said about 1 500 000 votes might be fraudulent. This claim was slammed by Karzai's team as irresponsible.
The voter turnout was revealed to be rather low - 38,7%.
