The economic crisis has led Romanian buyers of real estate to withdraw from Bulgaria's Danube city of Ruse.

This is a conclusion of the real estate agencies in the city, cited by BTA.

The increased demand for real estate property on part of Romanian nationals started in 2007 and drove the prices up to EUR 900 per square meter for apartments.

Largely because of the withdrawal of Romanian investors, the prices have now dropped down to about BGN 600 per square meter.

Despite the crisis, however, Romanians keep coming to Ruse on shopping tours, visiting mostly the large retail chain hypermarkets.
