Bulgaria earned a crucial 4-1 win against Montenegro in Sofia on Saturday, keeping their World Cup hopes alive, and the captain claims the team is capable of causing a shock on Italian soil.
"It's a very difficult match for us, but after the success against Montenegro we are more convinced of our capacity," Manchester United hitman Dimitar Berbatov told Il Corriere dello Sport ahead of the clash with Italy.
"It was important to put an end to my drought [from scoring], but most important were the three points that kept us in the running. I am convinced we have the ability to beat Italy."
The last time the two teams met in Bulgaria in October, the match ended in a 0-0 draw.
Bulgaria have 11 points from 7 games and will face Italy in Turin in another critical qualifier on Wednesday evening.
Italy and the Republic of Ireland are currently ahead of Bulgaria in group 8.
