Bulgaria's Culture Ministry is barely going to make it financially to the end of the 2009 as it is only left with enough funds to cover salaries of its employees.

This was announced Sunday by Culture Minister, Vezhdi Rashidov, at the end of his four-day tour of the southern minority populated region of Kardzhali.

Rashidov explained that his predecessor, Prof. Stefan Danailov, had spent 70% of the Ministry's annual budget on capital expenditures instead of on "creative activities".

He did say, however, that no theaters would have to be closed down in Bulgaria because of the economic crisis.

Rashidov has put forth the idea to invite the leaders of the various culture spheres in order to have them present and defend their visions for the development of their respective fields.
