Bulgaria Justice Minister: Bulgaria-Poland Custody Case Clear to Law: Justice Minister: Bulgaria Obeyed Law in Poland Custody Case "Bulgaria acted in accordance to the Hague Convention regarding children abduction", Minister Popova said.

The Bulgarian-Polish custody case that involved a court decision for the returning of two Bulgarian children to their Polish mother is clear from juridical point of view.

This has been announced Friday by the Bulgarian Justice Minister, Margarita Popova, Darik Radio reported.

Barbara Vasileva, the Polish mother who seized her 8-year-old daughter Nikoleta from her former Bulgarian husband in May 2009, has also seized her 7-year-old son Pavel.

With the help of the police, and an officer of the court, the Polish mother took away Pavel, after his father's car was pulled over near the Southern Bulgarian city of Plovdiv.

"The decision was released by the Sofia city court, and after than it was confirmed by the Appellate Court. Bulgaria acted in accordance to the Hague Convention regarding children abduction. Taking children from a place where they are used to live is illegal. It is also illegal when it is done without the agreement of even one of the two parents. In the Bulgarian law and Constitution it is a principle that both parents have equal rights and obligations regarding their children", Popova explained.
