There have been four circles who have controlled the Bulgarian Customs until that moment, and they have worked organized without interrupting each others' work.
The new Head of the State Agency "Customs", Valyo Tanov, announced this Thursday in an interview for the Bulgarian National Radio (BNR).
"The responsibility now is huge, and I will do all I can to deal with this issue (corruption). I do not know who of my predecessors proved that a customs officer manages to live only with his salary of BGN 500-600. A comparison with with their property will show the truth. As a director of the Customs, I do not have the right to check these things", Tanov said.
In his words, the prices of the oil products and metals have decreased, and the duty from them will be less in 2009. Besides, the import as a whole has gone down between 36-40%, which will increase the tax incomes even more.
"In a month we will know how big the gray sector is, because it will disappear...There will be changes in the Custom's personnel, but they will be made after serious research", Tanov said.
According to him, the cargo issue in Bulgaria is over the lowered prices, and it is difficult to affect them in a way. The quantity of the imported goods is being lowered, too, which is pure contraband, Tanov explained.
