The first Boeing aircraft, one of two leased by Bulgaria's flag carrier Balkan Airlines from Lufthansa landed at Sofia airport. The Boeing 737-300 is quite new and will be used by Balkan for ten months. The lease payment, initially set at USD 155,000 monthly, has been lowered to USD 150,000. The money has been paid from an amount that Balkan received for swapping its slots at London's Heathrow for Gatwick. The airplane was expected at Sofia Airport on June 6, German redtape was said to be the reason for delaying the transfer of the Boeing.
