Architect Valeria Boteva will be the new head of the Beautiful Bulgaria project, said the Minister of Labor and Social Policy Totyu Mladenov.
Mladenov also stated that the expensive renovation of the administrative building in Stara Zagora would be handed over to a prosecutor for investigation.
The inspectorate of the Labor and Social Ministry has begun checking the expenditure of funds under the Beautiful Bulgaria project. Its budget is EUR 66 M for this year, of which BGN 63,8 M have already been contracted to be spent.
"We have no concerns about the utilization of funds," said Deputy Minister of Labor Krasimir Popov. It did not become clear for what reasons Mladenov decided to split with the previous Director of the project Stanimir Kolev.
Meanwhile, Mladenov said that there are checks running on a number of disputed contracts of the Ministry. In Stara Zagora, for example, the case with the renovation of the administrative building of the ministry has already been handed over to prosecutors, he said.
By the end of the week the Minister will submit to the cabinet where the 15 % cuts in spending in his department will be made. "I do not know how they did the budget for this year, but the pledged funds for maintenance are BGN 15 M, and in the middle of the year BGN 17 M have been spent," said the Minister.
Mladenov concluded that he is currently reviewing all civil contracts made by the previous government, to decide which of them will be terminated.
