A number of foreign companies have shown interest in buying Sofia heating utility Toplofikatsiya according to Bulgaria Energy minister Traicho Traikov.
Bulgaria Energy, Economy and Tourism Minister Traikov stated that most of the companies who are interested in state-owned Toplofikatsiya are not from Bulgaria, in an interview for Darik Radio.
He continued that privatization of Toplofikatsiya is not the only option open to the government. He also added that the privatization process if started would take a long period of time.
On the subject of state owned tobacco company ‘Bulgartabac', Traikov said that although the previous government had promised that the privatization process of the company had begun "no real steps towards privatization" had been made.
Regarding the means of advertising Bulgaria as a tourist destination, Traikov said that the money available was indeed very little. "We are confident that we will find a way to get more money. Travel companies must also assume their part of responsibility... they need to improve the quality of services they offer."
