Bulgaria's incoming Defense Minister, Nikolay Mladenov, declared his Ministry's main challenge and priority would be to have a modern army with less expenses.
"The modernization of the army must continue despite the economic crisis and the financial hardship," Mladenov said.
Mladenov spoke Thursday, after the leader of the elections' winner, Citizen for European Development of Bulgaria, (GERB) party and future PM, Boyko Borisov, handed back the mandate to President Parvanov.
The incoming Foreign Minister said the modernization process that had already begun in Bulgaria's army was right in principle, but suffered from the lack of privatization and clear budget perspective, adding the new cabinet would analyze the inherited problems and was going to seek to identify those responsible for them.
