Sofia is the host of an international three-day folk festival, which opened officially Thursday evening.
The festival is organized by the City Hall under the patronage of Municipal Chair, Andrei Ivanov.
The main stage is located in downtown Sofia, in front of the National Palace of Culture with three additional stages - in the Lyulin, Bankya and Triaditsa districts.
The participants include musicians and dancers from Turkey, Cyprus, Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Spain, the Ukraine and Indonesia and six Bulgarian folk groups, including the State Folk Ensemble "Filip Kutev."
The festival opened at 6 pm with a parade from the "Sveta Nedelya" square on the main "Vitosha" boulevard to the National Palace of Culture.
The opening concert is taking place on the main stage beginning at 8 pm Thursday.
