We see no reason to resign as ministers, Ministers Kostadin Paskalev and Dimitur Kalchev, previously mayors from the Bulgarian Socialist Party, commented after the report of the Socialist leader Sergey Stanishev, which he presented at the beginning of the party’s 45th Congress. According to Stanishev the two ministers are accumulating negative marks by being in the Cabinet, but it is up to them to decide how long they will participate in this government. Minister Paskalev expressed the opinion that by being in the Cabinet the policy of the Socialist Party is being implemented. State Administration Minister Kalchev described the statement of the party’s leader as moderate, almost neutral. He pointed out that the Prime Minister only can decide on his position in the government. The consolidation of all political parties, which share our values in Central and Eastern Europe will be the main goal over the several next years, the greeting of the Socialist International on the party’s 45th Congress, reads. Later in the evening the Congress is to adopt amendments to the statute. The current leader Stanishev is expected to be re-elected when the delegates will vote for new leadership of the party. Yanaki Stoilov requested that he be struck off the list of the candidates for leader as a sign of his support for the candidature of Stanishev.
