Iran Interested in Pumping Gas to Bulgaria-Greece Link
Iran is seriously interested in delivering gas to the interconnection between Greece and Bulgaria, the latter country's Energy Minister Temenuzhka Petkova has announced.
Turkey's Foreign Ministry announced it had reached agreement with several European countries over the terms of the proposed Nabucco pipeline meant to supply Europe with gas.
An intergovernmental agreement has been scheduled to be signed in Ankara on July 13.
Details of the deal were not available.
Turkey has been negotiating gas transit fees and other issues with Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary and Austria, with the participation of Germany, since January.
Negotiations on a key intergovernmental agreement on the European Union's Nabucco pipeline have been completed and an agreement will be signed July 13 in Ankara, the Austrian government confirmed.
"I'm very pleased that the negotiations have come to such a constructive end," Austria's economics and energy minister Reinhold Mitterlehner said, as cited by Dow Jones.
The minister added, "the project Nabucco is not directed against Gazprom or other projects, but should be seen as complementing Russian gas," the minister said in a statement.
Nabucco pipeline is due to bring gas from the Caspian Sea to Austria via Turkey, Bulgaria, Romania and Hungary. Azerbaijan as a possible supplier country is involved in the current talks.
Meanwhile it emerged that German foreign minister Joschka Fischer has been appointed political communications advisor for Nabucco.
Fischer "will use his long-standing experience in foreign affairs and energy policy to gain stronger political support for the project and coordinate corresponding initiatives," a statement of Germany's RWE AG said.
