Sweden’s Ambassador to Bulgaria Sten Ask had a meeting with Deputy Economy Minister Kaloyan Ninov, during which Ask confirmed that signals for corruption were reported to the embassy by Swedish companies. He pointed out that such signals were made in the beginning of his mandate three years ago. Sten Ask underlined that since the government of Prime Minister Saxe-Coburg stepped in office, no such signals have been reported. “There are cases of corruption in Bulgaria, there are no proofs for them, though. The level of corruption is quite high yet and this creates bad image of Bulgaria. I know that the prime minister and his cabinet work intensively to fight corruption, the most important thing, though, is a well-functioning judicial system to be created,” Sten Ask told the Bulgarian National Radio.
