A district court has ruled that property and bank accounts, owned by two of Bulgaria's alleged mafia bosses, who are running for MPs, and worth nearly BGN 4,5 M, be distrained.

Kyustendil district court ruling came at the demand of the state body, dealing with illegally acquired property. It is expected to file the demand for confiscation of the pair's property within a month.

Plamen Galev and Angel Hristov, who were in custody on charges of torture, prostitution, blackmail, extortion and drugs running, were released in the middle of June on bail of BGN 50,000 each and got down to carrying out their election campaigns.

The investigation against them has consequently been suspended

Should the two make their way to parliament in the general elections next month, they will be free from prosecution during the four-year-term.
