Kosovo's former prime minister Agim Ceku (R) walks out of the Court in Kustendil, Bulgaria 25 June 2009.
Bulgaria's Deputy Chief Prosecutor, Galina Toneva, said Saturday the Bulgarian judiciary had no grounds on which to reconsider the release of the former Kosovo PM, Agim Ceku.
A Bulgarian Court released Ceku Thursday night, after he was detained earlier upon entering the country under an INTERPOL order requested by Serbia which wants him for war crimes.
According to Toneva, Ceku's release could be reviewed only if Serbia submitted documentation providing grounds for his detention.
Toneva said the Bulgarian legal system had observed the country's obligation under all international legal agreements that it was part of. Yet, she stressed that the existence of the INTERPOL order means that Ceku could be detained again at any border.
The former Kosovo PM Ceku has already gone through similar proceedings after he was arrested in Hungary and Slovenia under the same INTERPOL order.
After Ceku was released Thursday night, Serbian authorities reacted Friday by demanding an explanation from Bulgaria.
