The Bulgarian Navy has stated that the Ukraine has held two Bulgarian ferryboats illegally at the port of Ilichovsk.

The Heroes of Sevastopol ferry is currently still at the Ukrainian port and is being held due to what Ukrainian port authorities call illegitimate papers and unpaid taxes. The Bulgarian Navy has however disputed this claim and has said that the Ukrainian port is not releasing the boat to help its own ferryboat company "UKRFERRY".

The Bulgarian ferryboat "Heroes of Odessa" was also held for a time at the port but is now currently at the port of Poti in Georgia.

The Bulgarian loses over the ferry's detention allegedly amount to USD 22 000 for every 24 hours. The Heroes of Sevastopol was detained on May 8.
