A Bulgarian consortium of banks and companies is ready to support the rehabilitation program for the Varna Shipyard, proposed by the British Camell Laird, PARI Daily reported. Two weeks ago a meeting has been held among political leaders, representatives of the World Bank and the European Bank for reconstruction and Development. All the participants have stated their readiness to back up the rehabilitation program and in the case that the court approves of the program, the consortium will assist in its implementation. The rehabilitation plan is currently being challenged by the Central Cooperative Bank and the Bulgarian Maritime Corporation, the latter quoted as saying that if Camell Laird accepts the agreement they will also support the program. The names of the organizations in the consortium will be announced in two weeks or so. In the meantime the Swedish Fission Invest announced its intention to buy the shipyard.
