Bulgaria Ex-Energy Min Indicted over Belene N-Plant
Rumen Ovcharov, a former Energy Minister and Bulgarian representative in the Lukoil refinery's supervisory board, may be facing abeyance charges, private NOVA TV reports.
Bulgaria's Economy and Energy Minister, Petar Dimitrov, has suggested that the gas supply to Bulgarian steel mill Kremikovtzi will not be re-started.
Dimitrov categorically stated that the gas supply to Kremikovtzi can not be turned back on unless the debts to Bulgargaz are paid in full, after earlier reports that they would be re-started on June 1.
The gas supply to Kremikovtzi was cut by Bulgargaz on May 14 after the mill amounted debts to the company of BGN 105 M.
He also added that the most important steps he can take regarding Kremikovtzi are to help the workers. On Tuesday Dimitrov stated that the government had done all they could to prevent the closure of the steel mill.
Meanwhile Dimitrov, who is on the campaign trail for the Bulgarian Socialist Party, concluded that the increasing of pensions and lowering of electricity prices are not just part of the pre-election campaign.
