Bulgaria's beer consumption has not been reduced at all by the effects of the financial and economic crisis.
According to Vladimir Ivanov, Chair of the Bulgarian Brewer's Union, the beer consumption in Bulgaria since the beginning of 2009 is at about the same level as in 2008 when a total of 2,638 million hectoliters were consumed during the first six months of the year.
"We hope the crisis which is likely to deepen will not affect substantially the demand for beer. And we also hope for good weather over the summer", Ivanov said, as cited by the Pari Daily
In his words, a potentially rainy summer would affect the beer industry worse than the crisis. Ivanov also said that now because of the crisis, beers that are even slightly cheaper, would start to do much better.
