Sofia Mayor Borisov Gets 30-Day Leave over Broken Leg
Sofia Mayor and GERB party leader, Boyko Borisov, is already on a 30-day leave for home treatment after he broke his leg during a football game Thursday night.
Borisov does not have to undergo an immediate surgery, and depending on his condition, a surgery might be carried out in three months or later, the press service of the Lozenetz University Hospital has announced.
Borisov's broken right ankle is very swollen as visible from pictures released Friday afternoon by the GERB party press center. He has a small fracture of his right anklebone.
According to public opinion polls, Borisov and his party GERB are ahead of the ruling Bulgarian Socialist Party for the coming European Parliament Elections on June 7, and the Bulgarian Parliamentary Elections on July 5, 2009, and Borisov himself is widely seen as the main factor behind GERB's popularity.
