WAYS TO BOOST ECONOMIC COOPERATION WITH GERMANY SOUGHT

Bulgaria’s President Georgi Parvanov met with his German counterpart Johannes Rau in the framework of the ninth meeting of the presidents of Central European countries in Slovenia. Ways to pick up economic cooperation between the two countries were discussed. The presidents also talked about the coming visit of Parvanov to Germany in early November. Rau said that it was too early to say which countries will be invited to join NATO in Prague. Italy’s President Carlo Ciampi confirmed his country’s firm support for Bulgaria’s efforts for NATO and EU membership at a another meeting of President Georgi Parvanov. Ciampi and Parvanov discussed ways to improve bilateral relations between Bulgaria and Italy. Parvanov invited Ciampi to visit Bulgaria in the near future.
