Bulgaria's Interior Minister, Mihail Mikov, said Saturday, that abductions have become an attractive business in the country due to his Ministry's failure to deal with them.

Mikov spoke in a special interview for Darik radio.

The Minister confirmed once again that his institution has a serious problem with information leaks and declared the State was prepared to pay great money for information about the highly publicized abduction cases, thus announcing an official award for collaboration with the police.

Mikov made comments on several widely publicized events during the passed week.

Regarding the case with the latest Sofia kidnapping of Vene Sotirov, the Minister said that the police was working round-the-clock to solve it, adding he remained optimistic about a positive outcome.

Mikov also commented on the kidnapping of the former President of the "Litex" football club, Angel Bonchev and his wife, Kamelya, in the summer of 2008, saying the case was at a dead end.

Regarding media reports that Kiro Kirov had staged his own abduction, the Minister declined to give more insight.

Mikov also pointed out that the Interior Ministry never issued official information about the arrest of Kirov's abductors. (Five individuals, deemed likely suspects in Kirov's abduction, were detained Wednesday while traveling in a car along Trakiya highway, but were released later. It was revealed that they decided to poke fun of the approaching police cruiser and put hoods on their heads.)

Regarding documents about two crime groups dealing with abductions, submitted by the leader of the "Order, Law and Justice" (RZS) party, Yane Yanev, the Minister said that Yanev actually did not offer any insightful information, adding some of the people on his list were already dead.
