Business | July 10, 2001, Tuesday // 00:00

Representatives of CITUB /Confederation of Independent Trade Unions in Bulgaria/ and Podkrepa Labour Confederation burst into Mraz refrigerator works on Monday to check up signals for regular and grave breaches quoting their right to check-ups pursuant to Article 406 of the Labour Code. The two trade unions claim that the workers in Mraz have not received wages since March 2001, but only advance payments, often below the minimum wage as stipulated by the Labour Code. For the last few months remunerations have been paid without any receipts or documents, the employees are working under term contracts, in violation of the Code. The trade unions also claim that the company owes BGN 1,105,030 for social security. No instalments to the National Social Security Institute /NSSI/ were paid for year 1999 and 2000. The NSSI has approved a plan for rescheduling but the issue has already been referred to the Agency for Government Claims, CITUB chair Zhelyazko Hristov announced. Immediately after CITUB`s check-up Mraz`s employees came up with a declaration against the intrusion of Hristov`s group.
