Sergey Stanishev, Prime Minister and leader of the ruling Socialist Party, sealed on Tuesday the establishment of a left-wing coalition for the upcoming elections for European Parliament.
The formation, called Coalition for Bulgaria, brings together the Bulgarian Socialist Party, the Roma Party, Alexander Stambolijski Agriculture Union, Bulgaria's Social Democrats, The Movement for Social Humanism, the Communist party and the New Dawn Patriotic Party.
According to Stanishev the members of the coalition will run together also in the general elections this summer.
"Today Bulgaria needs a stable and predictable government, which has the expertise to solve the new problems that constantly pop up," the prime minister said.
In his words Coalition for Bulgaria unites a wide range of parties in the left wing and is based on shared values.
"The fact that this coalition stays strong in time shows that we are good and loyal partners. Left-wing MEP candidates ran on separate ballots in the previous European elections in 2007. This should not happen again," he said.
