RULING PARTY REGISTERED BY COURT

The Sofia City Court registered the party Simeon II National Movement on May 23. The registration papers of Simeon II National Movement were submitted to Sofia City Court April 25. Prime Minister Simeon Saxe-Coburg was unanimously elected leader of the newly founded Simeon II National Movement by the delegates of the Constituent Assembly on April 6. Exactly a year ago, on April 6, 2001, exiled Bulgarian monarch King Simeon II presented his plans for stepping on the Bulgarian political scene. Before the 2001 general elections the SIINM was denied registration under the Political Parties Act because its statute did not conform to the law. The Movement ran in the elections in a coalition with two small parties using their registration.
