All Bulgaria's embassies around the world will be invited to join the Earth Hour 2009 initiative, switching off lights for one hour and sending a powerful global message that action should be taken on climate change.

This was announced by Gergana Passy, Bulgaria's European Affairs Minister. Directions as to how to become part of the initiative will be sent to all Bulgaria's diplomatic missions by Minister Passy and Foreign Minister Ivaylo Kalfin. The World Wildlife Foundation (WWF) initiative will be carried out in Bulgaria under the patronage of Minister Passy and UK Ambassador to Bulgaria Steve Williams.

"I will join the campaign because each and every one of us should make his own contribution to environment protection," Minister Passy said.

Ambassador Williams commented that he takes his participation in the campaign as a recognition of the leading role the United Kingdom plays in the fight against global warming.

Twenty buildings in the capital, including the National Theater, the Bulgarian National Bank, the National Palace of Culture and the parliament, will join this special night on March 28, when the world will witness some of the most recognizable landmarks on the planet dim the lights in support of decisive action on climate change.

They include the world's tallest hotel building in Dubai - the Burj Dubai, the CN Tower in Toronto, Moscow's Federation Tower, the Quirinale - the official residence of the President of the Italian Republic, Auckland's Sky Tower, the Sydney Opera House.

Earth Hour 2008 took place in more then 25 major cities, on 6 continents, including Chicago, Copenhagen, Manila, Tel Aviv, Bangkok, Dublin and Toronto.

"It is dangerous to politicize science."

Oh my, you and Obama actually agree on something... wow... I am a bit shocked...

Global warming is a THEORY, people! It has not been proven, there is not enough data over a sustained period of time to prove it. It is dangerous to politicize science. Look up the theory of Eugenics and what went down when Hitler politicized it. Global warming - or cooling - is occurring with or without human intervention. If you don't like it, complain to the manufacturer of the universe - God.
