Former and current workers of the Plama oil refinery at Pleven will hand over on Wednesday an open letter to the leader of the Simeon II National Movement coalition (SNM) that won the general elections, demanding to help Bulgaria`s second refinery. A campaign for collecting signatures was opened in Pleven and the letter has been signed by over 1,000 people so far,
Ognyan Petkov, Chairman of the Governing Board of the Pleven Civil Association (PCA), said. The PCA was set up last year by local residents concerned about the future of the oil refinery. The letter insists that the new incumbents replace immediately the refinery`s owners, following the procedure prescribed by the law, stop the five-year-long agony of the enterprise and hand it over to a strategic investor.
