RECORD DEMAND FOR BANK CREDITS IN APRIL

There was a record demand for bank credits in April, year on year, data from the Bulgarian National Bank show. The price of the loans remained relatively constant, which means that the banks have been highly liquid and have increased the amount of the resource, directed to credits. Some 36.7 percent more are the new credits allotted to economic agents year on year. In April the banks allotted loans of BGN 419.2 M. The short-term credits, allotted during the last month (BGN 221.5 M) are by 20.2 percent more year on year, when they amounted to BGN 184.3 M. The increase in the new long-term loans is smaller. In April 2002 their amount is by 19.5 percent higher, compared to April 2001. Last month the banks granted new credits amounting to BGN 197.7 M.
