A EU monitoring report expected to be released February 12, will criticize new member Bulgaria for still lacking enough progress in fighting organized crime and high-level corruption, Bulgarian National Radio (BNR) reported Friday.
The report is expected to say that the country has failed to bring a convincing number of underworld bosses and corrupt public administration officials to justice.
The report is also set to mention the delayed enaction of a law on conflict of interests and parliament's failure to set up a commission to oversee the State Agency on National Security.
These latest negative findings come despite the attempts of Bulgaria's Deputy Prime Minister, Meglena Plougchieva, who arrived in Brussels Wednesday to campaign for the unlocking of some of Bulgaria's blocked EU funds.
