EU Charges Microsoft Again

The EU has charged Microsoft with monopoly abuse again, saying the company is harming competition by bundling Internet Explorer with Windows.

"Microsoft's tying of Internet Explorer to the Windows operating system harms competition between web browsers, undermines product innovation and ultimately reduces consumer choice," says a statement from the Commission.

The latest charge follows a complaint from the Norwegian browser outfit Opera.

The charges were officially delivered as a Statement of Objections to Microsoft's Redmond headquarters last Thursday, and the software giant now has eight weeks to respond.
