The paralysing anti-government blockade of Bangkok's two main airports continues with protesters leaving the prime minister's offices after a three-month sit-in and moving to the airports.
Leaders of the People's Alliance for Democracy (PAD), trying to force premier Somchai Wongsawat to resign, said the move was provoked by recent grenade attacks, which have killed two protesters and wounded dozens more at Government House in the capital.
"It's too risky to stay at Government House because of repeated attacks against us," said Anchalee Paireerak, a spokeswoman for the PAD. "All of us have started to move now, we expect to complete the movement this evening. We will go to both Don Mueang and Suvarnabhumi airports," she added, as cited by the Telegraph.
Protesters are accusing Thailand's present government of being under the influence of the former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra, who was brought down in a bloodless coup in 2006.
In October Thailand's Supreme Court sentenced Thaksin two years in prison for abusing his power while in office.
