On December 15, 50 Bulgarian physicians, members of the Bulgarian Medical Association (BLS) are going to submit to the European Parliament (EP) information about the country's numerous health care problems, the Association's Chair Doctor Andrey Kehayov announced on Sunday.
December 15 is the deadline given by the Association to the National Health Insurance Fund (NZOK) to begin negotiations for a national frame agreement.
In addition, the Bulgarian physicians demand that BGN 401 M from the NZOK projected 2009 budget would not get deposited in the reserve of the Bulgarian National Bank (BNB), but rather used for the health care system in the country.
Kehayov stated that if the funds end up in the reserve, there was a significant likelihood of organized protests of physicians in Bulgaria.
The Association's Chair further announced that around December 15, there would be an emergency meeting of the Association to discuss health care problems while elections of a new Association leadership would be scheduled between January 18 and 21 of 2009.
