Cigars with extraordinary sizes and of the highest quality were presented during a demonstration of the hand rolling of cigars, held on Friday at the Sofia cigar bar Habana, in the presence of many Cuban tobacco lovers.
The longest cigar rolled during the demonstration was 55 cm in length, the thickest one is called Kaliman Caribe and has an 8 cm circumference while Montecristo Edmundo kept the longest ashes when smoked - 10 cm.
The idea of the organizers from the Kaliman Caribe company was to offer the opportunity to Bulgarian cigar lovers to observe the process of hand rolling of cigars and to enjoy the handmade, non-standard in size Habanos.
Virginia Viga Cansino, a category 9 torcedor with 20 years of experience arrived from Cuba especially for the event. Cansino trains young torcedors in Havana and manages a gallery in the cigar factory Romeo y Julieta.
The high quality of the Cuban cigars is attributed to the favorable tobacco growing climate in the country. The real Habanos cigars are always hand rolled and made from five full leaves.
"Most cigar smokers say that they feel great disappointment when their cigar is gone just in the middle of a friendly conversation. So, the solution is to chose a bigger size. This is why some of the most popular Cuban cigars are at least 20 cm long. Cigar smoking is not only a pleasure, it is a ritual that has more and more fans in Bulgaria," Cansino said during the demonstration.
"Kaliman Caribe" Ltd is 100% private Bulgarian company, found in 1994 as the exclusive distributor of the prestigious Cuban cigars, produced by the world most famous manufacturer Habanos.
The main lines of business of the company are import, wholesale, distribution and retail of tobacco products and smokers accessories.
"Kaliman Caribe" Ltd manages company-owned specialized retail chain of luxurious shops "La Casa Del Habano " and "Premium Cigar & Tobacco for tobacco products.
"Kaliman Caribe" Ltd also has tobacco products distribution contracts for Macedonia and Albania.
