After steadily declining for months, Bulgaria's unemployment rate grew by 0,05% in October compared to the September level, according to data of the Employment Agency released Thursday.
Thus, Bulgaria's unemployment increased to reach 5,85% in October 2008, which is still 0,88% lower than the unemployment in October 2007.
The unemployment in the district of Bulgaria's capital Sofia is the lowest in the whole country - 1,29%. Sofia is followed by the District of Burgas (2,82%), the District of Varna (3,79%), the District of Stara Zagora (4,72%) and the District of Plovdiv (4,83%).
The unemployment in the Districts of Veliko Turnovo (6,10%), and of Dobrich (6,13%) is close to the country's average.
Twenty of the total of twenty-eight Bulgarian districts, however, have unemployment rates above the country's average.
The northwestern districts of Vidin (9,72%), and Montana (10,35%), the southern district of Smolyan (10,83%), and the northeastern districts of Shumen (10,65%), and Turgovishte (12,58%) have the highest unemployment rates.
