One of Every Ten Bulgarians Has Diabetes

One of every ten Bulgarians has diabetes while 70% of them receive poor health care, according to a report of the International Diabetes Foundation.

Data from the report shows that about 600,000 Bulgarians suffer diabetes.

A statement released by the Foundation in the occasion of November 14, the World Diabetes Day, points out that one person dies from diabetes every 10 seconds.

Bulgarian physicians have also conducted a research of 11,000 diabetics in the country, showing that 36% of them develop complications - damage of the eyes, kidneys, and cardiac decease.

More and more Bulgarian children suffer diabetes as well. Data shows that their number has reached 2,500.
