The United States have donated 52 armored Hummer land vehicles to the Bulgarian Army, the Bulgarian National radio reported.

The official ceremony to mark the donation was attended by Bulgaria's Defense Minister Nikolay Tsonev and US Ambassador to Bulgaria Nancy McEldowney.

The 52 off-road vehicles include 30 armored vehicles, 20 vehicles with enhanced protection and two ambulances. The Hummers are worth USD 16 M with the amount coming from the Solidarity Fund, which provides security assistance to nations with troops in Afghanistan and Iraq.

The vehicles will be used by the Bulgarian army's units during their missions abroad.
