The Sofia City Council allocated Thursday BGN 180 000 for the setting up of a wireless Internet system in the parks of the Bulgarian capital.

The allocated funds would be sufficient for installing wireless Internet in several downtown parks - the park before the Military Club, the garden behind the Tsar's Palace, the square around the St. Aleksandar Nevsky Cathedral and the St. Sofia Church.

In addition, during this first phase of the project Internet connection will be provided in the Borisova Garden, and in part of the Southern Park.

In July 2008 the Oborishte Park, formerly known as the Zaimov Park, became the first park in Sofia with wireless Internet.

How handy for all the politicos and bizness men to take a laptop/iphone to a park side cafe, have a coffee and do their shady deals while checking online how their investments are doing real-time...

I think they should install it in the garden in front of the National Theater where that big cafe is located.

Be careful what you write about Taro. He is the administrator's pet. I called him something relatively mild and my post was deleted immediately. I called him someting else and it was deleted again and he boasted about having firends in high places, which is bull. It must be PC SNA style, diversity crap, good to have gooks on the forum.

What is the most important conclusion from the Sofia Mayor elections on November 15, 2009?
That the ruling party GERB of PM Borisov continues to be hugely popular, whereas the Socialists are pretty much out.

That the decline of the Socialist Party has stopped whereas the ruling party GERB has failed to attract the expected very high number of voters.

That the Sofia residents are either completely disillusioned with politics, or care little about who is Mayor.

That the record-high jackpot of the Bulgarian State Lottery "Toto" generated much greater interest than the Mayor elections.
