A ship has sunk Saturday morning in the Black Sea, 10-15 miles east of the Bulgarian cape Emine, according to Dariknews, citing the Bulgarian information Agency BGNES.

Helicopters of the Bulgarian air force are currently searching the area and are looking for survivors. Military and commercial ships are also participating in the rescue effort.

The signal from the ship "Tolstoy" sailing under North Korean flag has been received at 4:00 am via satellite. Due to the bad weather in the area it is impossible for cutters to participate in the rescue activities.

An air force helicopter has found a safety board floating in the sea with no people on it. The commercial ship "Milin Kamuk" has been sent to the location and sailors are trying to lift the board. The area near Emine is most often used by ships traveling from Russia to Turkey.

Bulgaria's biggest port Varna has been closed since Friday morning due to the strong winds in the area reaching speeds of 12 m/s.
