Business | September 26, 2008, Friday

Bulgaria's financial newspaper Pari Daily awarded Friday the three hotels in the country with the best management.

The winners in the three categories of the 2008 Hotel Management Competition were: the Park Hotel Pirin, located in the southwest town of Sandanski, among the five-star hotels; the Capitol Hotel, located in the Black Sea city of Varna, among the four-star hotels; and the Losenets Hotel in Sofia in the three-star category.

The winners were determined according several criteria including revenue per available rooms, the hotel category, the number of rooms, the reservations and sales, the ways to make reservations.

Each of the participants had the right to state in free text what they believe was their greatest advantage.

The award ceremony took place after the opening of the Second Congress of Tourism Investors, which is organized by the National Tourism Board, and the Pari Daily, together with the State Tourism Agency.

What is the most important conclusion from the Sofia Mayor elections on November 15, 2009?
That the ruling party GERB of PM Borisov continues to be hugely popular, whereas the Socialists are pretty much out.

That the decline of the Socialist Party has stopped whereas the ruling party GERB has failed to attract the expected very high number of voters.

That the Sofia residents are either completely disillusioned with politics, or care little about who is Mayor.

That the record-high jackpot of the Bulgarian State Lottery "Toto" generated much greater interest than the Mayor elections.
