A bas-relief of Bulgaria's later Tsar Ferdinand I was opened Monday in downtown Sofia on the day when the country celebrates the 100th anniversary since its independence proclamation.
The sight has been made by Bulgaria's famous sculptor Georgi Chapkanov.
The monument's unveiling took place during a festive concert, staged at Alexander Battenberg, which started with a reading of Ferdinand's Manifest for proclaiming Bulgaria's independence.
During the ceremony, there was read the official address of the leader of the centrist NMSP party, Simeon Saxe-Coburg, to the Bulgarian citizens.
Saint Sofia Choir performed the Independence Hymn. Wreaths, sent by the President Georgi Parvanov, the Prime Minister Sergey Stanishev and Sofia Mayor Boyko Borisov were laid at the end of the ceremony.
