The Bulgarian Ministry of Economy and Energy is considering transferring the State share from the country's electric distribution companies to the structure of the Bulgarian Energy Holding, as announced by Bulgarian Economy and Energy Minister Petar Dimitrov.

Dimitrov further announced Friday that in a matter of months, the Energy Holding could be listed on the stock exchange, adding that the new structure would not change the participation of the National Electric Company (NEC) and "Bulgargaz" in the international energy projects such as the Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) "Belene", "South Stream", and "Nabucco."

"In the future, some other political format is going to decide if "Belene" is going to be directly transferred into the Holding or would remain with NEC, however currently this is not a problem. As far as the participation of "Bulgargaz" in the Holding is concerned, including abroad, all of it is transferred to the Bulgarian Energy Holding," said the Energy Minister.

The mega-Holding has been created on the base of "Bulgargaz", plus the participation of NEC, NPP "Kozlodui", the "Maritza-Iztok" mines and the "Maritza-Iztok 2" thermal plant.

In addition, the State is further considering transferring its 33% share from the country's electric distribution companies to the Holding.

"We do not have any aggressive intentions regarding the private ownership of the electric distribution companies. I, as a State representative, have voiced the readiness to transfer the State share in the Holding, but I do not have any other intentions," the Minister explained.

In the upcoming two months the State must conduct a procedure to select the Holding's management team. Until then, the new Bulgarian energy giant is going to be managed by a temporary Directors' Council.
