Bulgaria's ethnic Turkish party Movement for Rights and Freedoms demanded Wednesday that the Interior Minister Mihail Mikov be summoned to the Parliament to report on recent attacks against some mosques in the country.
The statement was made by the MRF MP Ahmed Yusein, who declared the party's indignation with the alleged recent acts of intolerance.
He pointed to a couple of recent examples: offensive writings on the walls of the mosques in the cities of Pleven and Yambol, and a fire in the mosque in Kazanluk.
Yusein demanded to know why none of the perpetrators of these acts had been arrested, and added that the religious tolerance for which Bulgaria is famous was sometimes artificial.
