Tolerance between different religions in Bulgaria is largely artificial, ethnic Turkish MRF party said in a declaration regarding recent hooligan attacks against mosques in the country.
"For hundreds of years we live on good terms with other religious groups but such ugly incidents show that the religious tolerance in Bulgaria is largely artificial," MP Ahmed Usein said in parliament.
Mr Usein reminded that hate graffiti and swastikas were recently sprayed on the walls of mosques in Pleven and Yambol, while a mosque in the town of Kazanlak half-burned in an arson attack, but yet no one has been arrested.
