Kustendil, Plovdiv and Smolyan are leaders among Bulgaria's regional cities by the price increase of apartments, according to statistical data for the second trimester of the year 2008.
Prices in Kustendil have gone up by 14,9% while those in Plovdiv and Smolyan are up respectively by 13,2% and 12,7%.
The sales of apartments in complexes in the winter resort Pamporovo, near Smolyan, have not influenced the apartments' price hike in the mountain city, according to real estate brokers. They further point out that apartment prices in the resort and those in the city are currently almost equal.
The demand remains the highest for apartments in new buildings with prices ranging between EUR 550 and 650 per square meter. The price for those wishing to take the risk to purchase "off plan" is lower - EUR 480 per square meter.
