A fire that broke around 3:30 am Monday morning had fully destroyed the terrarium in the city of Varna, while the cause of the fire is still unknown.

Many of the animals housed at the terrarium have died including the rare Savannah lizard.

Varna fire fighters have arrived at the scene immediately after the call has been received, but could not extinguish the two-story building, which burned down in a matter of minutes.

The majority of the reptiles have died and many have been hurt by the dense smoke.

According to the terrarium owner Rostislav Trayanov, the crocodile had also suffered severe burns and its life was in danger.

Trayanov does not think that this has been an arson incident.

The building had security guards round the clock and the fire had started at the lower level.

The surviving reptiles would be cared for by volunteers at the terrarium.

Dutch:

On the wall of the carnivorous animals house in the Frankfurt zoo is a quotation from Mark Twain. I've never seen the English original, so you're stuck with my own translation:

If you take in a wounded animal, it will never forget. And this is the difference between animals and men.

In the anthropoid ape house is another display of this kind. One of the windows is heavily barred, with warning signs on both sides, to the effect that this species of anthropoid is extremely dangerous; the only kind that kills for other reasons than obtaining food.

When you stand in front of the window, you're facing a mirror.

""Terrarium owner redevelops site into luxury apartments'...?"

If this is the terrarium located in Sea Garden, you don't know how accurate this could be. However it is probably not the owner himself, but the neighbours. Right next to this terrarium is a construction going on for some mutra mansion or hotel (usually the same, so what the heck :-)) which has been halted for some months now.

@CreepyS:

I definitely would give money so the wounded animals could receive good treatment, nothing special to me as I do it quite often. More then once I have picked up wounded cats/dogs (broken legs/hips) and brought them to the veterinarian and then, after they cured, found a good home for them. I feed streetdogs and streetcats all the time and as a positive logic result none of them is ever agressive towards me or my own dog. Obviously my weakness (if one would like to call it like that) is my love for animals. Imho in most cases animals are better beings than us humans....

Highlander, you may be sitting next to a Muslim terrorist planning jihad over the internet while you are on this forum! I suspect all Muslims chilling in internet cafes. Someone should monitor their posts.

I think Taro and Dutch must take care of two injured reptiles from the Terrarium.

Dear iamsoobored, maybe these "terrorists" like it here and feel comfortable? They are in EU's Mafia State- a bandit staten where fraud, corruption and organized crime rule people daily life, not to mention the state administration.
And yes, you might suffer from islamofiobia and seeing terrorists in Internet Cafes in Bulgaria- well, paranoia or not: You could benefit from talking to a "shrink" before you start "raiding" these Internet places. I am sitting one now and I am a frequent user over long time.
But untill this day I have seen no "terrorist" or Bin Laden supporters, though muslims often come here. They have not blown up the place, and may be its better to wait for the little green alians from Mars ?

Iamsoparanoid...

you lived already way too long in the states. Why should islamic terrorist burn down a terrarium, hmmm?!

They seek only attacks with a lot of casualties, to get the maximum medial attention. To burn some poor animals in a bulgarian Kurort are not the favourite targets of a muslim suicide bomber.

This has more the signature of some homegrown biznes interest guided action...

What ever those interest might be...

Call me paranoid, but something smells here. Have you counted lately the numbers of Muslim terrorists residing in Bulgaria and hanging out in internet cafes?

24h Ochrana...

Maybe a Leva note distracted their vision...

I feel sorry for the animals. So we will see what happens with the local. Or maybe it was unpaid debts...

First the bombings at Piccadilly, now this terrarium, what's next?
