Poland's Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski asked Saturday the French Presidency of the EU to convene an emergency summit meeting over the situation with the Georgia-South Ossetia armed conflict.

According to the Polish Minister, the calling of such a meeting was very likely, and the fighting between the Georgian Army on the one side, and the South Ossetian and Russian forces on the other still continues.

Sikorski also stated the territorial integrity of Georgia was being severely violated. Poland has traditionally supported the integration of the Caucasus state with NATO and the EU.
