Bulgarian Sailor Goes Missing in Mediterranean Close to African Coast

The Bulgarian boatswain from the city of Varna Rusin Kostov has gone missing in the Mediterranean close to the shores of Algeria and Tunisia.

Together with a Georgian sailor, Kostov disappeared from the Slovenian cargo ship Ivtra on August 3. The search for the two missing sailors was aided by US and Canadian ships and helicopters but to no avail.

The Ivtra ship is currently stationed at an Algerian port, where the crew members are being interrogated, and the case is being investigated.

Rusin Kostov is 45 years old, the father of three children. His oldest son is 21. He had a private contract for with the Slovenian firm in charge of Ivtra.
