A fire broke Thursday afternoon in a wheat field near the military warehouse in Chelopechene that exploded one July 3rd, as announced by the Defense Ministry.

The fire had caused explosions of munitions and shells remaining in the area of the field that has not been cleaned yet.

The Chief of the Sofia Fire Department had stated that they could not enter the area of the fields and extinguish the fire due to the unexploded munitions located there.

The fire started around 1:00 pm in a field located Southeast of the Chelopechene warehouse. It is moving in the warehouse's direction, but it is not expected to reach it due to a small river in the area.

The Defense Ministry stated that there was no danger for local residents and that they were measuring the level of harmful substances in the air.
